Hill, Implications of Highway Development in the Fruit Belt
I imagine Niagara as a place that has deep historic connection for the Iroquois people. I feel that this showcased and valued. I see Niagara as land that belongs to Native people. My Niagara not only acknowledges this fact but Native people are able to use the land and re-establish the connection to the land. I see Niagara as a place that is rich in history and every new person to the area will have the education to realinse who's land that they are inhabiting. This will re-establish the original inhabitants right to the land for everyone to know the truth
Meta-Reflection
My opinion on Niagara has not changed. My Niagara is beautiful and full of history. I do see the land base of Niagara as having deep history and connection for the Iroquois people. As Aboriginal peoples we have a strong connection to the land. I am an Aboriginal person who dose not see the value in expanding the major highway that crosses the land in Niagara. The common population of Niagara who is against the expansion of Niagara have an opportunity to stand with the Native peoples to protect and stop the expansion and exploitation of the land. To make a step in a good direction, we need education on Native issues. This is needing to happen in the main stream education level also, educating the main stream public will be another good place to start to positive change. Once the collective mind set has changed ,coming together on issues such as land claims and the highway expansion will be easier to deal with. With this increase of education brings with it an awareness and shared appreciation for the land.

Meta-Reflection
My opinion on Niagara has not changed. My Niagara is beautiful and full of history. I do see the land base of Niagara as having deep history and connection for the Iroquois people. Can food charities bring about food security?
Many families go hungry, this is a well-known fact. Our relationship with food and how we attain our food really needs to be reanalysed. It is my belief that we have disconnected ourselves from the land. I am fortunate enough to live where a I can plant my own garden and do my own canning and preserving for the winter months. Not to many people who live in the city have this opportunity. I have been taught that we need to work for our food, this means many laborious hours in the garden during the summer months. I also believe that there needs to be more opportunities for gardening in the cities. There can also be other small differences that can be done, edible landscaping is one. This small change will not only provide foods but also change the mind set of where food is attained. There needs to be a drastic change for families, the current system does not work, families do not need to go hungry.

It is my belief that food charities cannot bring about food security. The current system in place dose not meet the demands of the needs of the people. I now have a greater understanding of the meaning food security. Food Security for me means that you know how and have the means to ant your own food and be self sufficient. Food Security for the corporations mean that the corporations have the means to be profitable and successfully over the needs of the people. This problem need to have a common goal of what it is meant to have food security. Once a common goal can be set then we will be better equip to determine if we have accomplished our goals. The key thing to keep in mind is how to avoid the rich are getting richer and the hungry are getting hungrier.

In response to the video, the numbers are astonishing! The reality of where our food is grown and imported from tell us plain and clear where are priorities are when it comes to where we buy our food. We need to reexamine the underlying morals that we are teaching our younger children. Taking the time to buy produce from local farmers or even to grow your own in your back yard or balcony. This has the ability to give the younger children the lesson of where food actually comes from and the work and time involved. We as consumers need to break free from the easy consumerism, where no effort is given to grow your own food.
If we are to look globally at what we are importing and exporting, the numbers just do not add up. we need to come back to common sense way of thinking when it comes to our food. There must be other solutions to maintain that ever family have food security. We need to ensure that no child is to go hungry. It seems to me that common sense has lost to Milty million dollar corporation's.
Meta-Reflection
To further clarify my reflection, I do strongly feel that we are or are the people who are in charge and are the ones lacking in common sense. We need to be responsible and teach our children where and how to grow our food. Giveing the children a foundation of respect for the food that they eat, will be transfered into there relationship to there food. this can be seen in where they buy there food if they choose to. I also belive that this will boost the consoumers voice and influence the food industry. this influence will then have an influence on the regulatations of the imoprtation and exportation of the food we eat.
common sence is only benifical if we precieve the same out comes. common sence for the plublic is not the samecommon sence for the people hiding behind the muilty million dollar corporations. With this in mind a simple this of common sence has underlying motovations. what i see is that we as the people are motovated for the welfare of the people and the motovation of the corporations is to generte financial security.

I have also gained abroader perspective on what is meant by food security. I now see having the financial frame work in place that will economically and physically fill the empty bellies 50 or 100 years from now as food security.
